While creating an account on Discord, users must enter basic details like their name, email address and phone number. Discord typically uses the email address to inform the users about any updates and activities related to their account. The phone number comes in handy if users want to set up two-factor authentication. Additionally, the platform asks to create a username, making it easier for users to identify each other.
However, there is a good chance that users might want to change the email address or username associated with their account. Thankfully, it is possible to change the email address and username linked to an account after it is created, just like how users can change their age and birthday on Discord. Users can do so on both Discords for desktop and smartphone (Android and iOS). All users have to do is follow some simple steps to make the necessary changes in the ‘User Settings’ section of the application, and they are good to go.

First, to change the Discord email address on the desktop, click on the gear icon at the bottom left corner of the display to open ‘User Settings.’ The screen opens with a section about the user’s details, including the username, email address and phone number associated with the Discord account. Here, tap on the ‘Edit’ button beside the current email address. Then, in the dialogue box, enter the new email address that the user wants to connect with the Discord account, enter the current password, and click on ‘Done.’ Following this, the platform will verify the new email address by sending an email.
Change User Discord Username
Changing a Discord username is similar to changing the username on other messaging platforms like Telegram. First, as mentioned earlier, head over to the ‘My Account’ section and click on ‘Edit’ next to the current username. Next, enter the new username on the screen, enter the password and click on ‘Done.’ This will change the Discord username, which will be visible to other users on the platform. One thing to note here is that Discord allows multiple people to have the same username, except it assigns a unique four-digit number to identify them.
To change the email address via Discord for mobile, head over to the ‘User Settings’ section by tapping on the avatar at the bottom right corner, open ‘My Account,’ and tap on ‘Email’ to enter the new email address. If users face any issues with changing their email address, they can contact the Discord support team. On the other hand, if users want to change their Discord username via mobile, head over to the ‘My Account’ section and tap on ‘Username’ to edit it and save the new username. Discord mentions that “usernames changes are limited to 2 an hour” on the official support page.
