Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is just a few months away and recently leaked renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 reveal a design that’s very similar to the Flip 3. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 renders were also posted recently, and it looks like Samsung isn’t making major design changes for this generation of foldables. Samsung has been launching two foldable smartphones each year. The Galaxy Z Flip has a compact clamshell design while the Galaxy Z Fold is much bigger and unfolds into a tablet.

While Samsung isn’t the only brand in the foldable smartphone space, it is currently the market leader, and by no small margin. Apart from making great products, Samsung also has the advantage of availability. Most of its competitors only sell their products in China. Samsung, on the other hand, sells its foldables in several countries across the world.

While Samsung gave the Galaxy Z Flip 3 a makeover compared to the previous Galaxy Z Flip/Z Flip 5G models, that doesn’t seem to be the case with the Galaxy Z Flip 4. Reliable tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer aka OnLeaks has posted renders of the phone (via 91mobiles), revealing a design that’s nearly identical to the Galaxy Flip 3. The dual rear cameras are in the same position and Samsung is keeping the fingerprint scanner on the side. The ports and microphones are still at the bottom while the volume buttons are on the right side. An earlier report said the phone would have a larger cover display, but it is hard to tell from these renders, and the source didn’t confirm this either. The main display remains 6.7-inches in size and keeps the centered punch-hole camera.

Similar Design, New Colors

Galaxy Z Flip 3

Other than a bigger cover display, it has been reported that the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will have a slightly larger battery capacity. It is a small upgrade compared to the Galaxy Z Flip 3 but a recent leak revealed that Samsung is upgrading the fast charging to 25W. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 supports 15W charging. Of course, just like the Galaxy S22 series, it is not expected to come with a charger in the box. Other reported features include a 120Hz refresh rate for the main display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/8 Gen 1 Plus processor, Android 12, an improved hinge, and an overall better build.

The renders of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 show the phone in blue which is one of the new colors the device will reportedly be available in. According to display supply chain expert Ross Young, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 will be sold in Gold, Gray, Light Blue, and Light Violet. However, it could be available in more color options. Samsung announced a Bespoke customization service for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 that allows buyers to choose different color styles other than the launch colors. If the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 gets the same treatment, buyers will have plenty of options.
