Recording regular Instagram videos is a ton of fun, and once you learn how to speed up the sound of your videos, they become all the more entertaining. Since its debut in 2010, Instagram’s bread and butter has revolved around photo-sharing. You snap a picture with your smartphone and upload it to Instagram for your followers to see. It’s certainly possible to use Instagram for that and nothing more. But if you want to take advantage of everything else the app offers, the Instagram experience in 2022 has a lot more available.

One of the biggest recent additions to Instagram is Instagram Reels. The best way to think of Reels is as Instagram’s TikTok alternative. People can create short-form videos, spruce them up with a heap of editing tools, and post them for everyone to see. Like TikTok, the variety of videos on Instagram Reels is pretty impressive. You’ll find cooking videos, funny pet clips, outdoor/adventure ones, etc. No matter what you want to watch, chances are there’s something for you on Instagram Reels.

Also like TikTok, Instagram gives users numerous editing tools to help take their Reels videos to the next level. Some of them are fairly basic. You can insert popular songs into your videos, enable night mode capture, and set recording timers. But other editing features are a bit more interesting — such as Instagram’s speed-up setting. With just the touch of a button, you can speed up the video and audio of your Reels clip and transform it into something hilarious.

Steps For Speeding Up Sound On Instagram Videos

To get started, open the Instagram app on your phone, tap the ‘+’ button in the top right corner, tap ‘Reel,’ and tap the ‘Speed’ button on the left of the screen (it should have a ‘1x’ icon next to it). From here, Instagram lets you choose to speed up your video by 2x, 3x, or even 4x. After selecting how fast you want the video sped up, press and hold the capture button at the bottom of the screen to start recording. To see what your video looks and sounds like, tap the white ‘Next’ button.

Speeding up sound on Instagram is that simple. Open the app, start creating a new Reel, choose how fast you want to speed up the video, and start recording. While all of the steps are simple enough, it’s worth noting that this is the only way to speed up the sound on Instagram videos. As it stands, Instagram’s speed tool isn’t available for Feed or Story posts. Similarly, you cannot speed up the sound of audio added on top of your Reel video — only the audio you’re actually recording. So long as you keep those tips in mind, you’ll be an Instagram audio speed-up pro in no time at all.
