The OnePlus Nord N20 5G checks way more boxes than its $280 price tag suggests — but does that mean you can expect a charger with the phone? This has been a pain point for numerous smartphones since Apple shipped the iPhone 12 without a charger. Companies saw Apple get away with a charger-less smartphone, decided to try it out themselves, and haven’t looked back.
What’s been interesting is seeing how different brands have approached the charger situation. For example, Google doesn’t include a charger with the flagship Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, but it does bundle a charger with its more affordable Pixel 5a. On the other hand, Samsung doesn’t include a charger with the high-end Galaxy S22 series or the mid-range Galaxy A53 5G. Budget-minded handsets are usually more likely to still have a free charger in the box, though it’s certainly not guaranteed.

Thankfully, OnePlus remains staunchly committed to the in-box charger. The OnePlus Nord N20 5G comes with a free charging cable and charging adapter in the box — just like you used to be able to rely on for any smartphone. In fact, this is something we see with just about every OnePlus smartphone. Along with the Nord N20 5G, the OnePlus 10 Pro, OnePlus 9/9 Pro, and OnePlus Nord N200 have all still bundled a free charger in their respective boxes. OnePlus will likely move away from included chargers eventually, but at least for the OnePlus Nord N20 5G, you still get a charger in the box.
The Nord N20 5G Comes With A 33W Charger
And the charger that comes with the Nord N20 5G isn’t some slow, cheap charger you’ll want to throw in the garbage bin. Instead, it’s a 33W charger that delivers ‘a day’s power in just half an hour.’ That’s the same charging speed OnePlus was using on its flagship OnePlus 8 Pro in 2020. While more recent OnePlus handsets have evolved to 65W charging, 33W speeds are still very good for a phone of the Nord N20’s caliber.
A quick comparison between the Nord N20 5G and other budget phones proves this. The Galaxy A53 5G — a smartphone that costs over $160 more than the Nord N20 — tops out at 25W charging speeds. The Moto G 5G has measly 10W wired charging, the iPhone SE 3 has 20W charging, and the Google Pixel 5a gets 18W charging. The OnePlus Nord N20 5G isn’t a perfect smartphone, but if you have around $300 to spend, want a free charger in the box, and want that charger to refuel your phone quickly, the Nord N20 is a pretty compelling package.
