TikTok Rewards Program: What It Is & How It Works

TikTok is one of those apps with countless features hiding under the surface, and one of them is a ‘TikTok Rewards Program’ that lets you earn money for referring friends to the app. It’s easy to think of TikTok as nothing but a simple app for watching funny videos. That’s admittedly how many people use it, but there’s much more to TikTok than that.
Where to start? In addition to short-form videos, TikTok Live lets you watch longer live streams from your favorite creators. You can also do online shopping with TikTok Shopping, apply for jobs with TikTok Resumes, and even order TikTok-inspired food from TikTok Kitchen. When we say there’s a lot going on with TikTok, we mean it.

Another aspect of TikTok is its Rewards Program. As the name implies, the TikTok Rewards program ‘rewards’ you for using TikTok. More specifically, it gives you credits for referring your friends to use TikTok with you. As TikTok explains on its website, “The TikTok Rewards is a referral program for us to show our way of showing gratitude towards the thriving community of TikTokers around the globe. Under this program, every eligible user can avail TikTok rewards and benefits.”
How To Use The TikTok Rewards Program
On paper, using TikTok Rewards is dead simple. Per TikTok’s instructions, using the program is as follows: Open the TikTok app on your phone and navigate to the For You, Discover, or Profile page. Look for the coin icon in the top left corner and tap it. This shows your TikTok Rewards referral link that you can share with a friend. When they sign up for TikTok with that link, you get rewarded.
That all sounds easy enough, right? The odd thing about TikTok Rewards is that it’s not widely available for all TikTok users. TikTok’s eligibility information for the TikTok Rewards Program has a few requirements. TikTok users in Korea need to be 19 years or older, Japan users need to be 20 or older, users in Egypt must be 21 or older, and users “from all the other countries” need to be at least 18 years old. So long as you meet the age requirement, aren’t employed by TikTok, and your account isn’t flagged as a spam/scam account, you should be eligible for TikTok Rewards. But even if you meet all of those requirements, you may not see the coin icon on your TikTok app. It appears that TikTok Rewards is only available for select users with the above requirements. If you meet the criteria but don’t see the coin icon in your app, your account hasn’t been chosen for TikTok Rewards.
If you are eligible for the TikTok Rewards Program, you stand to earn a few different prizes from TikTok. TikTok says users can “redeem your hard-earned TikTok referral rewards for actual money.” Additionally, TikTok users can “also redeem your TikTok rewards as coupons or mobile top-ups in certain countries.” If you use TikTok and have the Rewards Program in your app, there’s no harm in using it. If it’s not present, just be patient and wait for it to (hopefully) appear.
