TIPS FROM OUR EXPERTS
A simple rule — load your washing machine to half a drum of dry laundry. It washes better, rinses thoroughly, spins more easily, and reduces strain on bearings and shock absorbers, extending the machine’s lifespan.
Use detergent in any form — powder, liquid, or capsules — by placing it directly into the drum with your laundry. Forget about the drawer — only pour fabric conditioner into it (if you use it), as it’s taken during the final rinse. This keeps the drawer, housing, and connecting hose clean, and ensures all detergent is used effectively.
After each wash cycle, take a 1-hour break. This allows the motor to cool down and prevents overheating or damage.
If you’re washing bed linen, don’t load more than one set at a time. Due to their size, items can bunch up, making it difficult for the machine to spin properly.
Adjust the spin speed — in summer, clothes dry quickly, so there’s no need to spin at 1000 rpm. Using 400–500 rpm reduces wear on mechanical parts and extends the machine’s life.
After washing, unplug the machine from the power supply. The exception is if you have a voltage stabilizer or surge protector installed. Even when not in use, a plugged-in machine is still under voltage and can be damaged by power surges.
After each wash, leave the door open so the machine can air out and dry.
If the power goes out during a wash cycle, unplug the machine. Issues often occur not when the power goes off, but when it comes back on.
